The topic on this page is the 7 year covenant of Daniel
9:27.
As usual, if you have been here before please read it again because I have made changes again as of January 2025.
When one studies bible prophecy, and tries to understand how the events will unfold, one of the main events that is revealed is a 7 year covenant found in Daniel 9 verse 27.
Curiously, Jesus didn't tell us to watch for the covenant but rather to watch for the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not. Perhaps we can see why after digging in to prophecies surrounding these events.
Now thousands of Christians understand that there will be a
7 year covenant just prior to the Lord's return. Most, however, that I have
heard, believe that this is to be a 7 year peace treaty. However, no-where in
the word does it spell out that this is to be a peace treaty. It is simply to
be a covenant between many nations with the prince of the people who destroyed
the city of Jerusalem and the temple. It might be a peace treaty, but it does
not have to be a peace treaty.
The whole concept of a peace treaty stems from a teaching by John Darby, The author of the Darby Bible. He claimed that in 1st
Thessalonians 5:3 where it says, "when they cry peace and safety then
sudden destruction will come upon them." it was referring to the Daniel covenant.
Notice that does not say, "When they make a peace
treaty then sudden destruction comes upon them" Darby believed God
showed him that this verse revealed it would be a peace treaty and started the
whole doctrine that has taken over the hearts of most believers. These cannot
believe that the 7 year covenant is already made simply because there is no
peace treaty and, those who believe in a pre-tribulation rapture can't accept it because
the rapture hasn't happened yet, so how could the covenant be signed already?
Understand that when Israel is removed from Jerusalem one more time as is written in Matthew 24:15, the world will cry peace and safety and immediately after the great tribulation of Matthew 24 the stars fall. These stars falling are the sudden destruction. This is what Thessalonians refers to. The proof is in the pudding.
Let us read what the bible says about the covenant:
Dan 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall
Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that
shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall
be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolation are determined.
Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many
for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the
oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it
desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon
the desolate.
If you do a word study in Strong's Concordance on the word
covenant here 'peace treaty' does not even come up.
Now notice that it does not say 7 years in these verses
either. Well, it is easily proved that this week is actually a period of 7
years. Scripture tells us that every day is counted as a year in some prophecy.
You can also check out the story of Laban and his dishonesty in the book of
Genesis and the use of the word week in that story. Jacob was told he had to
serve 7 years for Rachel and it says when he finished his week he took her and
left Laban.
Besides this, the total number of weeks was seventy sevens.
This would be 490 years so the original prophecy starting in verse 24, of Daniel 9, is for
490 years. Jesus was crucified exactly 483 years after the time the order
went out to rebuild Jerusalem in the book of Nehemiah. Oh, if only the Jews
would look at this in Daniel. What awesome proof that Jesus is their Messiah.
Most scholars agree that the final 7 years of the
490 are yet to come and the span between the 483 years and the 490 was a church
age during which time Jesus has been building his church, though Daniel doesn't
say so. However, he hasn't returned yet so it is not hard to accept that
teaching as sound today seeing as Jesus was cut off on the 483rd year exactly
as written. Scripture does tell us that God would chastise Israel 2 days and on
the third day He will raise him up. If one day is as a thousand years and a
thousand years as a day then this would mean God will raise up Israel in about
year 2000. Actually, you must start counting on the day Jesus rose from the
dead which was around 30 A.D. This places the gathering of the saints in about
2030. Isn't that awesome?
So let's see if we can understand who this prince of the
covenant in Daniel 9 is.
It was Titus and the Roman soldiers who destroyed the city
and the sanctuary in Jerusalem in 70 A.D., therefore the prince who must
confirm the covenant will come out of the Roman Empire. Today there is no Roman
Empire with Caesars, however, the Roman Catholic Church still exists today and it
rules over many of the nations in the 27 state European Union (EU). The EU is the new
face for the Roman Empire. I explain this on the page describing Babylon. Note that there is a Catholic church and there is a Roman Catholic Church. They are not exactly the same.
Now the 7 year covenant prophecy has never been fulfilled in the last 2000 years until 2007, to my knowledge. However, in 2007 the first of three 7 year covenants was signed. It was called the European Neighbourhood Partnership
Instrument, or EPNI. This was signed by the then High Representative and
Foreign Minister for the European Union, Javier Solana. He could not be
considered a king but he could easily be considered a prince or spokes
person.
Though it is evident now that the 2007 EPNI agreement was not the covenant we are watching for, because Jesus hasn't returned, it was possible that when it was renewed and strengthened for the next 7 year term, by Catherine Ashton, it could have been the one we are watching for. This would have restarted the clock on Jan 1st, 2014, if it was the covenant. However, Jesus didn't return in 2021 either. However, the EU High Representative in 2021 was Josep Borell, and he confirmed the covenant for the next 7 years.
It now seems evident at first glance that this is not the covenant either, however, notice in Daniel 9:27 in the King James Version of the bible it does not say he would confirm the covenant in the middle of the 7 years as it does in most other versions. Rather it says in the MIDST of the 7 years. This word midst can indicate that the confirmation is sometime during the 7 years but not necessarily in the middle of the 7 years.
Scripture to prove that the word midst is the correct word is found in Daniel 8.
Daniel 8:11 speaking of the little horn who comes out of one of the areas where Alexander the Great's 4 generals ruled:
(11) Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of
host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of
his sanctuary was cast down.
(12) And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice
by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised and prospered.
Understand that verse 17 and 19 tell us that this prophecy is for the "time of the end".
So what exactly is chapter 8 telling us here?
Notice it is concerning the abomination and the transgression. Notice the reason for this time in question is to give the sanctuary and host to be trodden underfoot. The only true way to interpret this is that from the time the covenant is confirmed until the abomination is set up there will be 2300 days; then the sanctuary will be given over to the gentiles to be trodden underfoot.
Remember this is for the time of the end. Look now please at Revelation 11:1-2:
And it was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the alter, and them that worship therein. But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
So contrary to what we have all been taught, there are 2300 days from the time the 7 year covenant is confirmed until the abomination is set up is 2300 days and then the sacrifice and oblation will be taken out of the way and the 42 month reign of the beast will begin, in the "midst" of the 7 years.
2300 days is 6.25 months. If the Jan 1st. 2021 covenant is the Daniel covenant confirmed, then 2300 days later is April 20, 2027. This would be the date the abomination is set up.
However, it is not that simple. Remember how I said the word says he will confirm the covenant. Well it turns out that Josep Borel was the high representative in 2021 but for unknown reasons he did not sign the expired agreement to extend the covenant on Jan 1st, 2021. Rather on June 20th he "confirmed the covenant" and predated it back to Jan 1st.
If the June 20th 2021 is the date of confirmation, is this not the date that the Lord will use to fulfill this prophecy.
So now we must take June 20, 2021 and add 2300 days which brings us to Oct 16, 2027 then add 1260 days (42 months) which brings us to March 29th, 2031.
Now we just have to figure out where the 1335 days fits from Daniel 12:31
Perhaps June 20 2021 plus 2300 which equals Oct 16, 2027 plus 1335? That equals June 12, 2031 The blessed day.
All we can due is watch and pray that we might be found worthy to escape these things that must come upon the earth.
This would mean June 20th 2021 plus 2300 days is October 16th, 2027 and the day the abomination will be set up, which is the day Jesus said to watch for.
So take note that in the King Jesus Version of the Bible that Daniel 9;27 says, quote, "CONFIRMED THE COVENANT". This terminology suggests that the covenant was already made and Josep was simply confirming it. This is important terminology.
The reason the real covenant was never made before this
is 2 fold. For one thing God was preparing the 10 horned nations to rule in
these last years. Secondly, during the past 2000 years GOD has also been
building his Church. The proof that it is now time is that the events that are
now unfolding around the globe and especially around Israel, all help fulfill
many prophetic scriptures explained on several pages on this blog.
The fact that the asteroid Apophis is supposed to come in the spring
of 2029 and it is mentioned in the bible codes tells me it is the one described
all through the bible. If we read Rev 9 we find that the locust army comes out
of the pit after the star falls and that they are only here for the final 5
months. This means Jesus can't gather his elect until at least 5 months after
the asteroid hits.
Side note:
If you research the expanding earth using google search you can find a YouTube with a graphic explanation for an expanding earth. It becomes obviously true and is evidence for a hollow earth, though the author would not admit it.
From Jan 1st 2021 plus 2300 days is approximately 6 and 1/4 years and
lands on April 20th 2027, 2 years before Apophis is to hit on
Friday, April 13th 2029. If we add 42 months for the reign of the beast to
April 19th 2027, when the abomination is set up and the sanctuary is turned
over to be trodden underfoot, we come to October 16, 2030.
So based on a literal interpretation of Daniel 7 and the 7 year covenant of Jan 1st 2021, plus 2300 days in Daniel 8 when the abomination is set up, followed by the blessed day of 1335 days, in Daniel 12, the last trumpet should sound on January 2, 2031.
Note that in Revelation 11 the outer court of the temple is
given to the gentiles to be trodden under foot for 42 months. The 10 horned beast only reigns 42 months. It is possible that it's reign ends when the king from the pit takes over for 5 months. 42 months equals 1260 days. 1290 days are mentioned in Daniel 12. And the woman of Rev 12 goes into a wilderness for 1260 days.
We are to watch and pray.
So to recap, many say that the sacrifice and oblation is to be taken away in the 'middle' of the 7 years which should be about June 30, 2024. That didn't happen!
However, just as the bible never said it would be a peace treaty, so
the KJV never said the sacrifice would be stopped exactly in the middle of the
7 years, according to Daniel 9:27. What it says, in the King James Version, is
that the prince would cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease in the 'MIDST'
of the week. This could be any time within the 7 years. It could be one year
after the covenant was signed or it could be 6 years after the covenant was
signed. But it seems it could be the 2300 days of Daniel 8. We are watching and
learning.
To prove this is a proper interpretation please look at
Daniel 8:13-19 again. It is good to read these over and over to get a clear
understanding:
Dan 8:8 Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and
when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable
ones toward the four winds of heaven.(Alexander the Great's 4 generals)
Dan 8:9 And out of one of them came forth a little
horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and
toward the pleasant land.
Dan 8:10 And it waxed great, even to the host of
heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and
stamped upon them.
Dan 8:11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince
of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of
his sanctuary was cast down.
Dan 8:12 And an host was given him against the daily
sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground;
and it practised, and prospered.
Dan 8:13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another
saint said unto that certain saint which spake, "How long shall be the
vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to
give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot? "
Dan 8:14 And he said unto me, Unto 2300 days: then
shall the sanctuary be cleansed.
Dan 8:15 And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel,
had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood
before me as the appearance of a man.
Dan 8:16 And I heard a man's voice between the banks
of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the
vision.
Dan 8:17 So he came near where I stood: and when he
came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O
son of man: for at the end shall the vision be.
Notice again the host trodden under foot in verse 13.
This treading under foot is what John spoke of in Revelation 11. Important
note.
Rev 11:2 But the court which is without the temple
leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy
city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
That is the "time of the gentiles."
So you see, if the latest ENPI is the covenant, we are now
in the final days of this age. It was Javier Solana who confirmed the original
covenant on January 1, 2007. He was the high representative at that time for
the European Union. It was strengthened to include efforts to bring a
peaceful solution to the middle east conflict between Palestine and Israel
beginning Jan 1st, 2014 and signed by the EU high representative, Catherine
Ashton. The 2021 covenant was signed by High Representative, Borell
Josep.
So, the mother in Rev 12 may go into the wilderness for the
next 1260 days, after the abomination is set up. This would also start the 42
months for the 2 witnesses to give testimony in Jerusalem described in Rev 11.
It could also start the 42 month reign of the beast over Jerusalem after the
abomination is set up described in Rev 13. It may also start the final
1335 days of this age that ends in the blessed day spoken of in Dan 12:12. I
would say that will be the day of the great, 7th and last trumpet.
We are told not to set dates for the second coming, but we
are told to watch and what I have explained is scripture, not my ideas. Is it
possible that Jesus did not know the hour or the day because he did not know
when the covenant would be signed? I find no scripture to give away the date
for the confirmation of the covenant. Once the 7 year covenant is signed then it is seems perfectly clear when
the abomination will be set up, because when the real covenant is made then there
are exact dates for many events in scripture when taken in context.
Understand that Jesus did not say to watch for the covenant. He said to watch
for armies camped around Jerusalem in Luke 21 and the abomination of desolation
in Matthew 24.
So if I were to make a possible time line at this point I
would say the following:
1) The newest EU agreement in 2021 starts the final 7 year
covenant.
2) There will be 2300 days until the abomination is set up.
Notice it is not in the "middle" of the 7 years but is in the
"midst" (somewhere during the 7 year covenant) just as the KJV tells
us. Most other versions of the bible say "middle" and this causes
confusion for the 2300 day verse. This is in April, 2027
2b) The child of Revelation 12 is the obedient believers and is caught up about the end of
the 2300 days
3) Armies surround Jerusalem and set up the abomination that
causes desolation
4) There is great tribulation for the Jews in Israel. This
is Jacob's trouble and the great tribulation in Matthew 24:15
5) 2 years after the 2300 days end, in April 2029, Apophis falls and the way is made for the
king and locust to ascend from the hollow earth pit.
6) Herod Antipas, is the possible king who ascends from the pit for 5
months to torture those who receive the mark of the beast and take control and sit in the temple showing himself that he
is god.
7) The armies of the world gather in
Megiddo and come down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat to fight the
king from the pit in the battle of Armageddon.
8) Jesus returns and sends his angels to the four corners of
the earth and all weapons turn on him.
9) The gathering of the elect and chosen at the last trumpet 1335 days (Daniel 12)
after the abomination is set up.
10) The 7 bowls of wrath are released.
Of course this is subject to possible error as I am
human, but I am sure it is pretty close.
Watch and pray that you will be found worthy to escape these things that must
come upon the world. (The child of Rev 12)

Below are two EU pages revealing their 2021 7 year
agreement with many nations. Notice it begins in January of 2021 and ends on
December 31st 2027 so it includes a full 7 years.
For many years prior to 2007 the High Representative of the
EU was slowly bringing many nations into a covenant relationship with the EU.
From the pages of Wikipedia I quote:
The European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) is a foreign
relations instrument of the European Union (EU) which seeks to tie those
countries to the east and south of the EU into the EU. These countries,
primarily developing countries, include many who seek one day to become either
member states of the European Union itself, or generally more closely
integrated with the economy of the European Union.
The EU offers financial assistance to countries within the
European Neighbourhood, so long as they meet the strict
conditions of government reform, economic reform and other issues surrounding
positive transformation. This process is normally underpinned by an Action
Plan, as agreed by both Brussels and the target country. The ENP does not cover
countries which are in the current EU enlargement agenda, the European Free
Trade Association or the western European micro states.
The EU typically includes Association Agreements in exchange for commitments to
political, economic, trade, or human rights reform in a country. In exchange,
the country may be offered tariff-free access to some or all EU markets
(industrial goods, agricultural products, etc.), and financial or technical
assistance.
